The Turner & Associates’ Spring Tax Accounting Internship Program gives students a glimpse into how a local accounting firm runs and how the tax advisory and preparation industry functions.

During the Spring Semester of each academic year, our firm provides the opportunity for two students to learn about taxes, experience what it is like working in accounting firm during its busiest time of year, and how to effectively and efficiently perform on the job.

This program will be offered to students between the months of January and April and this paid program is offered on a part-time basis. The program is offered part time so that the students may continue to be enrolled in classes while they are working at our firm.

If you are interested in the internship program, please email your resume and cover letter to Will.Turner@turnerfirmga.com.

Testimonials

Master of Taxation Candidate, Fall 2021, California State University, Fullerton

After completing two tax seasons with Turner & Associates, I feel confident in my abilities to do very well in the accounting career field. By being able to do tax returns from start to finish and interact with amazing CPAs, I learned so much so quickly!

This internship was different from many others in the field because I was able to ask all my questions and receive insightful feedback, learn from my mistakes, and learn how to pace myself to complete tax returns in a timely manner.

Turner & Associates does a great job of working with your schedule and respecting your college courses. I also loved getting to know the staff and I know I will miss them all!

The depth and array of information I learned about tax and the accounting field in general will be a huge help for my future! I recommend this internship to anyone considering it.

I worked three internship tax seasons at Turner & Associates.  My internship spanned from January of 2016 to August of 2019.  I was paid to gain experience that set me up for my next career step.

Working in a CPA firm has sharpened my time management, focus, and taught me how to view real world situations one file at a time.

The staff were professional, family oriented with a wealth of experience.  The staff trained and mentored me which gave me the confidence and trust to analyze and resolve client files.  The partners interact with you daily and their door is always open.

Savannah Holcomb, BBA, May 2016, University of North Georgia

Interning at Turner & Associates was hands down one of the best decisions I made in my collegiate career. Not only did I have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with preparing individual tax returns and researching, but I was able to work in a professional environment.

While working at Turner & Associates, I was still able to attend classes, stay involved on campus with my sorority and honors organizations, and save up for my future. I was also able to earn class credit for one tax season.

Having this experience definitely set me aside from other candidates in the work force and I believe it’s what ultimately led me to my summer internship at KPMG, which then led to a full-time job offer from KPMG. Aside from the technical and professional skills gained, I am extremely thankful for my three tax seasons I spent with the firm and for the life-long friendships and relationships made.

Everyone was extremely friendly, genuine, and intelligent. They will treat you like family and answer any questions you have with enthusiasm.

Courtney Ashworth, BBA Accounting, May 2018, University of North Georgia

Working at Turner and Associates was a great experience.  The staff has a wealth of knowledge and are eager to help you learn all about the profession.

The knowledge gained was invaluable for helping me start my career and get full-time work right after graduation.  I highly recommend it.

Alex Nelson, BBA Accounting, July 2014, Kennesaw State

This was my first internship and I feel that I learned more from it than I did from my classes at UNG.

Being paid to gain hands-on experience in an office setting and establishing connections for my future with the support of professionals who treated me like family from day one was more than I could have ever expected.

Christopher Sims, BBA Accounting, May 2016, University of North Georgia

Before my internship at Turner & Associates, I had no idea where I wanted to focus my career. After a tax season at the firm, I realized I wanted to focus my career on tax. My internship experience gave me a taste of what working in public accounting is like. Now that I am working full-time in public accounting, I am grateful to have had prior experience to help me get better adjusted.

Colleges will always emphasize the importance of internships, and I can say first hand that my internships at Turner & Associates enhanced my knowledge of not just tax, but personal finance and accounting which became very beneficial when taking some of my higher level business courses.

Having this experience on my resume allowed me to stand out to potential employers, which is how I landed my first full-time job after college. Besides the professional benefits I gained from this internship, I was able to be a part of a family-friendly firm that truly embodies a work-life balance. This internship allowed me to continue to be a full-time student, remain involved on campus, spend time with my family and best of all – I was being compensated for learning.
